Last week you learned how to play a 3 Stroke Accent, and now you’re going to learn a cool way to apply it by learning a riff that Simon Shaheen uses in his song “Blue Flame”.

Check it out in the video below!

Simon Shaheen’s Blue Flame

I highly recommend checking out Simon Shaheen’s album “Blue Flame” with his band Qantara. It is the most modern and virtuousic Oud playing I’ve ever heard, and really give opens your eyes to the capabilities of this instrument.

I know most of you will probably buy a digital copy. But here’s a tip: Every digital copy I’ve heard of this album, whether it was on Spotify or on iTunes, has a defect, or glitch. It wasn’t ripped properly. The track “Bosphorus Scenes Under the Moonlight” cuts off after 2 minutes, and doesn’t play the whole song. I’ve seen the piece played live and I downloaded the album from iTunes. But I downloaded it many years ago, and it’s possible they have corrected the problem.

So if you have the opportunity to buy the original CD, you will get your money’s worth.
